… „Granados represented the twilight of Romantic nationalism in Spanish music, but his fascination with Goya and Goya’s Madrid pointed the way for successors like Manuel de Falla, Federico Moreno Torroba, and Joaquín Rodrigo, many of whose works would similarly celebrate Castile as the historical and cultural fulcrum of Spain. Granados was thus a pivotal figure, one whose music looks both backwards and forwards. Over a century after his tragically early death, the legacy of beautiful music he left to the world continues to fascinate and delight us.“
